Road resurfacing at the Hualalai Road and Mamalahoa Highway intersection near Holualoa may snarl traffic Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Hawaii County Department of Public Works.

The department anticipates lane closures will be in effect both days while crews complete the work. While the intersection will remain open, the department requests travel be limited to local traffic.

The work will continue Monday and Tuesday with crews resurfacing 3,430 feet of Hualalai Road, ending just north of Lako Street, according to the department. Again, the road is open and lane closures will be in effect. Nonlocal traffic is asked to use alternative routes such as Palani Road and Haawina Street.

Work is slated from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to the department. Road work is weather permitting.
