Kiyoto Aoki
Kiyoto Aoki, 86, of Captain Cook, died May 18 in Las Vegas. Born Dec. 27, 1925, in Kealakekua, he was a retired mechanic for J.M. Tanaka Construction, a mechanic for Grace Pacific and Goodfellow Bros, World War II Army veteran and member of Kona Hongwanji Mission, Kumamoto Kenjin Kai, Hanei Kumiai and Operating Engineers No. 3.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. June 3 at Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. service. Inurnment will be at noon June 4 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Nobuko Aoki, of Captain Cook; sons, Craig (Lynette) Aoki, of Kealakekua, Noel (Elizabeth) Aoki, of Hilo; daughter, Wanda (Joseph) Kapahu, of Hilo; brother, Haruo Aoki, of Kealakekua; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Henry “Jay” Abraham Kawaakoa Jr., 44, of Pahoa, died May 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 15, 1967, in Honolulu, he was a commercial fisherman and heavy equipment operator for Hamakua Sugar Co., Hawaiian Linen Supply, Loeffler Construction, Puna Certified Nursery and Kaiulani 4.
Friends may call at noon June 2 at Pohoiki Beach Park for a service with a potluck luncheon and scattering of his ashes to follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by wife, Carolene Kawaakoa, of Pahoa; son, Hananiah Kawaakoa, of Pahoa; daughter, Jaylene Kawaakoa, of Pahoa; hanai son, Kainalu Kawaakoa; brothers, Peter (Rebecca) Piilani and Michael (Francine) Gooman, both of Alaska, Reuben (Sharon) Piilani, of Illinois, Kaiser (Diane) Piilani, of Honolulu; sisters, Bobbin (Joe) Poaha, of Honolulu, Oahu, Emerald (Lee Pohaku) Maka, of Ohio, Hattie (Alfred, III) Seals, Sonja Miranda-Rivas and Roxanne (Wayne) Spatz, all of Nevada, Shannon Kawaakoa, of Hilo; hanai brothers, Prescott (Berna) Kawalima, of Hilo, John (Lynn) Ramos, of Pahoa; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
