The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea summits, above 8,000 feet, through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The advisory also applies to Big Island’s interior areas above the 5,000-foot elevation, such as the Bradshaw Army Airfield and Saddle Road.

The service forecast 25 to 35 mph easterly winds with gusts of 50 mph.

A wind advisory means that winds of at least 30 mph and gusts over 50 mph are forecast, according to the service. The service cautioned motorists the conditions can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
