Marcelo “Celo” Q. Jacinto, 78, of Hilo, died May 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 1, 1934, in Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he worked for Mauna Kea Sugar Plantation and was a member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church of Christ.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. May 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. celebration of life. Friends may call again at the mortuary for visitation only from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Burial is at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section). Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by spouse, Mercedes Jacinto. of Hilo; daughters, Cherelyn Mamaclay. of California, Jeogy (Nestor) Pagtama and Marlene (Mario) Vintero, both of Keaau, Margie (Jami) Anderson, of Wisconsin, Mamelyn (Sonny) Mones, of Oregon; sons, Reynaldo (Elvira) Jacinto, of Keaau, Roger (Rowena) Jacinto, of Hilo, Ramelton (Lily) Jacinto, of Kona; brothers, Modesto Jacinto and Isaias Jacinto, both of Philippines; sister, Proserfina Bueno, of Philippines, 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
