High surf advisory for Big Island shores

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for the Big Island’s north-, east- and south-facing shores through 6 a.m. Saturday.

The service forecast waves ranging from 6 feet to 8 feet.

A high surf advisory means high surf could affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion, according to the service.
