The Department of Water Supply continued its water restriction advisory for North Kona residents Tuesday.

The 25 percent reduction restriction was in place for customers in the following areas:

  • Kaiminani Drive, Hina-Lani Street and upper Palani Road, including all side streets and subdivisions off those roads;
  • Along Mamalahoa Highway from Keopu Heights to Kona Ocean View/Puukala, including all side streets and subdivisions off of these roads; and
  • Along Queen Kaahumanu Highway from north of Kealakehe Parkway to Keahole Airport including NELHA, Keahole Ag Park, all commercial/industrial areas, side streets and subdivisions off those roads.

Officials were investigating what caused the QLT pump to fail, a spokeswoman said. Spigots remained in place Tuesday for residents needing water. The spigots were located mauka of the West Hawaii Civic Center and at the intersection of Keanalehu Street and Puohulihuli Street above Kealakehe High School.
