Norman Kapuniai

Norman Kapuniai

Norman Duke Kapuniai, 71, of Waimea, died May 8 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a rancher and a crane operator with Operating Engineers Local Union 3.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. May 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Kapiolani Road in Waimea for a 10:30 a.m. service. Inurnment of cremains will follow at a later date. Lei are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Marion (Anderson) Kapuniai, of Waimea; sons, D. Taylor (Cari) Kapuniai and Brad Kapuniai, both of Waimea; daughter, Lilia (Adan Perez) Kapuniai, of Honolulu; brother, Glenn (Linda) Kapuniai, of Ewa, Oahu; sister, Sharon (Alvin) Pang, of Oregon; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Gloria Del Rosario

Gloria Del Rosario, 70, of Kapaau, died May 12 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, she was a retired reservationist with Hertz Rent A Car and member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. May 19 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawi County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Lawrence Del Rosario, of North Kohala; xon, John Flores, of Bristol, Pa.; daughters, Ann McGuire and Anna Marks, both of Honolulu, Margie (Walter) Geiger, of North Kohala; brothers, Caesar Dulan, of California, Henry Dulan, of North Kohala, Fordolino (Joann) Dulan, of Texas, Fidel “ (Agnes) Dulan, of Honolulu; sisters, Estepania Alejandro, of North Kohala, Benedicta Case and Loretta Manuel, both of Nevada; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael Cochran

Michael H. “Tutuman” Cochran, 72, of Hilo, died May 3 in Hilo. He was a disaster assistant for Federal Emergency Management Agency-Homeland Security, retired Hawaii County Mass Transit administrator, former Marine Corps Bandsman and member of the Hilo Yacht Club, Volcano Golf and Country Club, Kona Mauka Trollers and Marine Corps Musicians Association.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. May 20 at the Hilo Yacht Club for a celebration of life. Family requests aloha attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Colleen Cochran, of Hilo; sons, David Cochran, of Colorado, Pono Cochran, of Honolulu; daughters, Kim (Shannon) Mercado, of Las Vegas, Michelle (Henry) Tavares, of Hilo; hanai son, Kauhane Castro, of Honolulu; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Amante Aurelio

Amante “Mante” Q. Aurelio, 58, of Hilo, died May 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 29, 1954, in Espiritu, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a coordinator supervisor for a papaya processing company and member of Hawaii Army National Guard and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Pahala.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. May 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. May 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial is at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn Aurelio, of Hilo; sons, Jeffrey (Jolene) Aurelio and Ronald (April) Aurelio, both of Hilo; daughter, Amelyn (Alvin) Dalmacio, of Hilo; mother, Dolores Aurelio, of Pahala; brothers, Edgar (Emelda) Aurelio and Robert (Elizabeth) Aurelio, both of Pahala, Cesar (Adora) Aurelio, of Honolulu; sisters, Delia Aguinaldo, Loida (Fermin) Susa and Amelia (Ferdinand) Capuz, allo of Honolulu, Lilybeth (Florentino) Orcino, of Pahala; eight grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Masanori Hirayama

Masanori “Masa” Hirayama, 84, of Keaau, died May 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 30, 1927, in Ninole, he was a retired farmer and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by brothers, Ernie Hirayama, of South Pasadena, Calif., Mel (Kathy) Hirayama and Edward (Dianne) Hirayama, both of Hilo; sisters, Aiko (George) Odo, of Honolulu, Kay (Kenneth) Kagawa, of Hilo; caregiver, Riannalyn Handy, of Keaau; numerous nieces and nephews.

Katsumi Nii

Katsumi “Kats” Nii, 87, of Hilo, died April 20 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born May 10, 1924, in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired meat inspector for the state Department of Agriculture and member of the University Heights Community Association, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hilo Betsuin Kyodan, HGEA Golf Club, AJA Golf Club and the Orchid Club of Hawaii.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

He is survived by daughter, Elsie Miyazono, of Hilo; sisters, Yachiyo (Richard) Nagata and Fumie Kawano, both of Hilo; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
