National Federation of the Blind West Hawaii chapter members will wrap Mother’s Day gifts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in front of Kmart in Kailua-Kona. Donations are appreciated.
Members will also meet at 10 a.m. Monday at Hale Halawai on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. Jeanie Cluff, a Healing Touch practitioner, will give a presentation and demonstration on energy medicine techniques.

Hospital auxiliary meeting Monday
The Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary board meets at 1 p.m. Monday in the hospital’s lower level conference room. Visitors with ideas or questions are welcome.
Everyone is invited to the weekly bake sale from 7 to 9 a.m. Fridays in the hospital cafeteria.

Hawaiian canoes program Wednesday
Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park presents “Na Waa — The Canoes,” a presentation by Capt. Kiko Johnston-Kitazawa on Hawaiian canoes and their influence on Hawaii’s past, present and future, at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the park’s amphitheater.

Healthy families event slated for May 18
The state Department of Health is holding its “Healthy from Head 2 Toe” event from 3:30 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the Makaeo Events Pavilion at Old Kona Airport Park. This free community event brings together local programs, clubs, businesses and agencies to provide helpful information and activities promoting healthy living for families. Attendees can enter to win a bicycle and other prizes. “Only Us” will prepare free chili and rice dinners.
