Lauhala weavers gathering next week

From May 16 through May 19 at the Keauhou Beach Resort, Elizabeth Maluihi Lee, founder and president of Ka Ulu Lauhala o Kona and a “Living Treasure,” plus dozens of master weavers from all over the state will gather to share their knowledge and skills and perpetuate the ancient art of lauhala weaving. Students of all levels are welcome to attend, along with those who just love lauhala products.

The 17th annual conference will include a hoolaulea (crafts fair), talk story, luau and a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
