More than 90 Kealakehe Intermediate School chorus, ukulele and May Day court students, along with their chaperones, departed Kona for Los Angeles May 3. These students have the opportunity to visit Southern California sites including Universal Studios, Disneyland and the Long Beach Aquarium, while sharing the music and culture of Hawaii. The students have been invited to perform on stage at Disneyland, the Crystal Cathedral and other venues in Orange County. For many of the students, this is the first time they have been to the continental United States, and the first trip to Disneyland for many students and chaperones. Students, tour organizers, parents and chaperones have worked all year to raise funds and plan for this tour, which provides an opportunity to share cultures and promote the educational opportunities for young people who travel.
