Lecture features early history of the universe
Lecture features early history of the universe
At 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea, astronomer Brian Siana of the University of California at Riverside will give a free public talk about a crucial event early in the history of the universe that made space transparent — a place where light can travel across billions of light-years of time and space allowing scientists today to explore it with telescopes.
The event, called the reionization, was brought about by the ignition of the first stars. Before the reionization, the universe was a murky place where light was unable to travel far.
This Keck Observatory talk will also be streamed via keckobservatory.org.
