The Cinco de Mayo Splash will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday at Anaehoomalu Bay.
Registration for the one-mile ocean swim will begin at 6:30 a.m. on race day. An awards ceremony with postrace refreshments will follow the swim.
Applications are available at Bike Works in Kailua-Kona or Bike Works Beach & Sports at Waikoloa Beach Resort’s Queens’ MarketPlace. The race will benefit the Big Island’s junior lifeguards and the 2012 Multiple Sclerosis Charity Ride, and organizers need volunteers.

Pig tournament May 12
Punana Leo O Waimea will host a pig-hunting tournament fundraiser for its Hawaiian language program on May 12.
The entry fee is $25 per person for teams of up to four people for registration received by Saturday. The fee will increase to $35 from May 6 until the registration deadline on May 11.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places in three categories. Prizes include cash and a GPS dog-tracking collar.

Kukio Challenge
June 3 at Kukio Bay
The 11th annual Kukio Challenge will take place at 9 a.m. June 3.
The race features a half-mile swim, three-mile run, and either a four-mile OC-1 paddle course or a two-mile paddleboard/stand-up paddleboard course.
Athletes age 14 and older may register for the event, which is limited to 100 entrants.
The cost is $65 and athletes must register online at kukio.net by 3 p.m. June 1. Participants may register on race day for $75.
Proceeds benefit the Hui Laulima O Kekaha Kai, a group that aims to ensure protection of the natural, cultural and scenic resources of Kekaha Kai State Park in North Kona.
