PTA convoys scheduled today through Sunday
Oahu-based military units will convoy from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today through Sunday.
The convoys will travel via Kawaihae Road, Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Waikoloa Road, Mamalahoa Highway and Saddle Road.
The convoys will not have Hawaii Police Department escorts but will have escort vehicles front and rear. Motorists are advised to be alert and drive with care.
The PTA Department of Army police are working closely with local authorities and military units to coordinate this activity in support of unit training.

Project Grad registration continues, meeting Tuesday
Kealakehe Project Grad registration continues for Kealakehe High and West Hawaii Explorations Academy seniors. The $45 fee may be paid at graduation practice by cash or check, or via PayPal at khsprojectgrad.com. Partial scholarships are available to attend the alcohol-free graduation night party.
The next Project Grad meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the library workroom. Interested parents are encouraged to attend and help make this night of fun, food and friends a success.

Kona Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons meets Wednesday at the Kona Masonic Center, 73-5577 Kauhola St., No. 7, Kailua-Kona. The activities begin with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Dessert will follow the meeting.

Na Leo O Hawaii Inc.offers a free video production orientation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at its facility in Kaiwi Square, 74-5565 Luhia St., C1-A, Kailua-Kona.
Na Leo O Hawaii is the nonprofit corporation established to manage the public, education and government cable access channels in the county and to promote the creation of programs by and for the people of Hawaii Island.

Meditation gathering May 6 in Waimea
“Awakening to the Deepest Truth of Who We Are: A Gathering with Gavin Harrison” is scheduled for 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 6 at the Waiaka Events Salon located at 66-1664 Waiaka St. in Waimea.
Experienced and beginning meditators are welcome and meditation guidance is offered. Participants should bring a meditation cushion. Groups are nondenominational and open to all.
Chairs are available. Harrison accepts donations to help cover his living expenses.

Author presents middle school writing workshop May 16
From 3 to 5 p.m. May 16, Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village hosts Tom Peek’s “No Fear Writing” workshop for middle school students. This free class is designed to stretch critical and creative muscles in a safe, supportive environment. Participants are invited to return May 26 to showcase their workshop projects in a poetry slam and open mic event at the center’s Youth Art Festival.
