Gov. Neil Abercrombie released $35.7 million in Capital Improvement Project funds for projects from Waimea to Ka‘u.

The release includes $1 million to install a hydropower plant in the Waimea irrigation system, $2 million for Waimea transfer ditch improvement, $3.5 million for land acquisition, design and construction to repair flumes, ditches, reservoirs and tunnels in the lower Hamakua ditch watershed, $500,000 for Ka‘u irrigation system improvements and $284,000 to install solar-powered parking lot lights and other improvements at Ka‘u Hospital. A number of Hilo projects were also funded.
