c Zachary Minichin Smith, 26, of Hilo, pleaded no contest March 10 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $687 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. His license was also revoked.

c Trenton Jess Griffin, 20, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded no contest March 19 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving with a license suspended for a previous driving under the influence conviction and reckless driving. He was sentenced to pay $761 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was revoked.

c Douglas K. Sakai, 36, of Waikoloa, pleaded guilty March 19 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $937 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

c Kalani Nohea Burgher, 20, of Ocean View, pleaded guilty March 22 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $687 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

c Kendall Ray Connaughton, 37, of Ocean View, pleaded guilty March 22 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $687 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

c Shaun Langsi, 27, of Kealakekua, pleaded no contest March 22 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving with an improper license. He was sentenced to pay $474 in fees, referred to a driver’s education course and ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time.

c Lynn M. Gillespie, 53, of Naalehu, pleaded guilty March 22 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. She was sentenced to pay $437 in fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. She must also perform an unspecified number of community service hours.

c Alfred McGrew Rice, 19, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced March 29 to pay $587 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.

c Stomar Saimon, 22, of Ocean View, pleaded guilty March 29 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant, driving with an improper license and failure to have no-fault motor vehicle insurance. He was sentenced to pay $1,021 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and, if determined required, treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. He must also serve an unspecified amount of jail time and his license was suspended.
