c Ashley Mahealani Soares, 29, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded guilty March 9 to second-degree methamphetamine trafficking, third-degree promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia. She was sentenced to serve concurrently up to 10 years incarceration with a mandatory one year minimum, for the trafficking charge and five years incarceration for the other offenses, with credit for time served. She must also pay $4,315 in fines and fees.
c James Sherman Kaulani Smith, 37, of Kailua-Kona, on Jan. 12 pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal property damage and two counts first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and pleaded no contest to second-degree hindering prosecution. He was sentenced March 12 to pay $5,885.50 in fees and restitution and serve concurrently up to five years incarceration for the property damage and unauthorized entry offenses and one year for the hindering prosecution offense, with credit for time served.
c Aaron Kahili Johnson, 20, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded guilty March 14 to second-degree bail jumping and two counts first-degree terroristic threatening. For the bail jumping offense he was sentenced to 30 days incarceration, with credit for time served, and to pay a $35 fee. For the threatening offenses he received a deferred acceptance of his plea with conditions that he pay $860 in fines and fees, serve one year incarceration with credit for time served and all but 45 days suspended, obtain a GED within six months, and write a letter of apology to the victims.
c Jaelynn Kahealani Ascino, 41, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded guilty March 30 to second-degree theft. She was sentenced to five years probation with conditions she pay $5,853.92 in fines and fees, serve 30 days incarceration, with credit for time served and all but 14 days suspended, and write an apology letter to the victim and another apology letter to be published in West Hawaii Today.
c Jose Kawika Rodriguez, 22, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded guilty March 30 to felony abuse of a family or household member. He was sentenced to five years probation with conditions that he pay $755 in fines and fees, serve one year incarceration, with credit for time served and all but 30 days suspended, and write an apology letter to the victim.
