Supreme Court decision
Why are we forced to purchase any product?
If the Supreme Court decides it is against the (federal) Constitution to force citizens to purchase a product (health insurance) and fine them if they do not, couldn’t that mean it is also against the (state) constitution to force citizens to purchase a product (car insurance) and fine them if they do not?
I pay more in car insurance every year than my car is worth. I basically am forced to re-buy my car every year.
The argument that you can harm others with your car does not play because if I get a contagious disease and don’t go to a doctor, I can harm every person I meet. If I work with the public, say as a supermarket checker, I could harm hundreds of people.
The argument that buying a car is a choice may fly in New York City but this is not New York City. Buying a car — especially on the Big Island — is not a choice. The distances here are great and the public transportation is not.

Please report incident
Mahalo from the bottom of my heart to the woman who saw the situation I was having with a loose pit bull on March 30 in Waikoloa Village.
I was on foot and was chased onto a car and held hostage by this loose dog. The woman in the car drove slowly toward the dog using her car horn excessively to redirect the dog back to its yard. A person from the residence collected the dog.
The woman in the car asked if I was OK and I said I was fine and we continued on our separate ways. If this woman reads this, please call the police and tell them what you saw.
