Hikers begin at the Kilauea Visitor Center and walk Sulphur Banks Trail and Crater Rim Trail, an easy one-mile trek on mostly flat and level ground. Then, participants will drive to Kipukapuaulu to explore its ancient mesic forest on a one-mile trail through an area of the park containing a wide variety of plants and birds.Be ready for hiking at 4,000 feet elevation, and prepare for variable weather conditions, including sunny, windy, chilly and rainy.
