The Hawaii State Department of Health awarded three recipients with the Brain Award at a recent conference put on by the Brain Injury Association of Hawaii. Local recipient Karen Klemme, RN, BSN, CRRN, CNLCP, is a Certified Nurse Life Care Planner and Nurse Case Manager. She is the facilitator of a brain injury support group in Kailua-Kona which has been meeting for the past 17 years and has done much to advocate for the brain injured community on Hawaii Island. The Kauai Center of Independent Living and the Law Offices of Ian Mattoch’s Continuing Commitment Program were also honored for their service.
