Gov. Neil Abercrombie on Friday released funding for several Big Island projects.

Kona Community Hospital received $1 million for design and construction of two new generators. The Department of Transportation was awarded about $586,000 for the second phase of a Kohala Mountain Road project. The project includes the installation of larger culverts to increase drainage capacity. Another DOT project includes replacing the South Punaluu Stream Bridge with a new, wider bridge meeting seismic design criteria, as well as vehicular load and design standards. The state provided $7,200 for that project.

Arc of Hilo will get $550,000 to build a new facility for its Client Support Services Community and Training Center. — WHT
