Fry appointed GM at Atlantis Adventures
Doug Fry, who has 22 years of management experience with Atlantis Adventures, has been appointed general manager of its Kona submarine tour operations on Hawaii Island.
Fry takes over the position formerly held by longtime Kona resident Mike Stanton, who retired from the company in February after 19 years.
“Fry is very familiar with our Kona operations from his long tenure with our company and the many years he spent in Hawaii,” said Ron Williams, president and CEO of Atlantis Adventures.
Fry joined Atlantis in 1985 and was part of the original assembly team of the first Atlantis submarine in Vancouver, British Columbia, before helping to launch the company’s tour operations at Grand Cayman, St. Thomas and Guam.
In 1990, he brought his skills to Hawaii in support of Atlantis’ growing tour operations, first as Oahu operations manager before being promoted to director of operations in 1993 and taking on the added responsibilities for the submarine tours in Lahaina, Maui, and Kona, a position he held until 1999. He then moved to Florida to serve as Atlantis’ director of operations for the Caribbean until 2007. Most recently, he served as operations manager for Great River Journey in Whitehorse, Canada.
