Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park announces its “Images From the Edge” photo contest.
This contest is open to anyone with an original photograph taken in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park within the last three years. Photos may be color or black and white and can cover any subject matter.
Awards will be given in three categories: amateur-beginner, amateur-advanced, and professional. Professional photographers Rick Decker and Alvis Upitis of West Hawaii will judge the entries based on creativity, photographic quality, camera skills and appropriateness to the theme of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
All images will be considered for inclusion in a special slide show on April 28 at the Kilauea Visitor Center. All finalists’ photographs will be exhibited June 9 through 17 at the Volcano Art Center Gallery.
Prizes include a helicopter tour, a zip line adventure, a private Volcano tour, FHVNP memberships and FHVNP logo wear.
For full contest rules and to enter, visit fhvnp.org. The entry fee for up to 3 photos is $25, payable online by credit card.
