A 61-year-old woman died Friday in a one-vehicle crash on Kohala Mountain Road in South Kohala.
A 61-year-old woman died Friday in a one-vehicle crash on Kohala Mountain Road in South Kohala.
Around 2:30 p.m., the woman, who was driving a pickup truck, ran off the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. The 61-year-old, who was the lone occupant, died prior to their arrival had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The road was closed for five hours. Traffic was detoured via Kohala Ranch Road and Akoni Pule Highway.
