The National Weather Service has downgraded the high surf warning to an advisory for the Big Island’s east- and north-facing shores.

Forecasters in Honolulu said a north-northeast swell will persist through early Thursday morning and then diminish thereafter. The swell could produce 10- to 15-foot waves, hazardous swimming conditions and dangerous rip currents along the affected coastlines.

The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.
