The Division of State Parks has initiated a new five-year contract with Makai Parking Inc. for the collection of entry fees at Akaka Falls State Park. As the new vendor, Makai Parking started collecting the fees Monday, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources.
The current fees will remain the same and are only collected from commercial tour operators and out-of-state visitors, DLNR stated.
“These fees provide new income and are critical as a sustainable funding source for continued operation of our state parks,” said DLNR Chairman William Aila Jr.
