High surf will continue to pound the Big Island’s east-facing shores through Tuesday evening, National Weather Service forecasters warned, and beachgoers are urged to watch out for dangerous rip currents.
The high surf warning remains in effect because a large north-northeast swell is expected to persist through late Tuesday afternoon, creating surf up to 10 to 15 feet high along the affected coastlines, according to the Honolulu Forecast Office.
