A winter weather advisory for Big Island summits remains in effect until 6 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service’s Honolulu Forecast Office.

Periods of freezing rain, sleet and light snow are expected in affected areas, including above the 8,000-foot elevation on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. These hazardous conditions may lead to slippery roads, limited visibility and even road closures. Motorists should use caution while driving, the advisory stated.
