The Donkey Mill Art Center presents an invitational, juried exhibition of some of Hawaii Island’s most accomplished photographers in “Beyond the Image: A Celebration of Hawaii Island’s Fine Art Photographers.” The show will be on display though April 7.
“Through this exhibition, we attempt to showcase the exceptional photographic talent on Hawaii Island and to inspire the next generation of artists,” said Kate Jacobson, center executive director.
Participating artists in the exhibition include Kathleen Carr, Michael Cromwell, Bob Douglas, Rick Decker, Steve Garon, Jock Goodman, Ken Goodrich, Mary Goodrich, Christina Heliker, Joe Laceby, Josh Lambis, G.P. Merfeld, Mike Paravano, Joseph Ruesling, Alvis Upitis, Beverly Warns and Valerie Yong Ock Kim.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the Donkey Mill Art Center will offer a series of one-day photography workshops. The workshops will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays, and cost $35:
c Saturday: “An Introduction to Digital Photography” with Upitus and Edwards.
c March 10: “Artful Seeing — Introduction to Composition” with Kathleen Carr.
c March 17: “Simple Post Production Techniques” with Upitus and Edwards.
c March 24: “Advance Your Personal Eye” with Rawle.
c March 31: “Photographing Artwork” with Upitus.
The Donkey Mill Art Center, a nonprofit organization, is a gathering place for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore and expand their creative identity in a safe and nurturing environment. It is located three miles south of Holualoa Village on Mamalahoa Highway and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
