The public is invited to discover eight principles for living life to the fullest as revealed in the Genesis Creation story. The event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday through March 5 and March 8 through 11 at the Kona Seventh-day Adventist Church, 82-1013 Kinue Road, Captain Cook.
A suggested donation of $25 for materials is asked.

Seniors group plans casino day
The Kailua-Kona Seniors will hold a mini casino day for members and guests beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.
A mini pasta plate will be available for $4 as a fundraiser for the group.
Students serving breakfasts, lunches
Students in the Culinary Arts Department at Hawaii Community College West Hawaii are serving breakfast and lunches this semester.
Breakfast is served from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday, except March 6, at the school. No reservations are required, and carry-out is welcome. The cost is $6 per person.
First-year students are studying American regional cuisine and will serve a lunch based on Hawaii foods on Wednesday.
Lunches are served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations will be taken beginning at 8 a.m. Monday the week of the luncheon. Call 322-4850. Changes or cancellations should be made at least 48 hours ahead of time. Tips are welcome. Schedule and pricing are subject to change.
Kupuna singles group meeting for breakfast

Cancer support group meets Thursday
“You’ll Never Walk Alone,” a cancer support group, meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The group is open to all cancer survivors and co-survivors.
Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of the month. There is no fee. Light refreshments are served.

Light bulb exchange is robotics fundraiser
West Hawaii Explorations Academy, which is located in the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority, will host a light bulb exchange at its community fair scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the school.
The public is invited to bring old incandescent bulbs to exchange for free energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs. The school will receive 50 cents per light bulb from Blue Planet, and all money raised will go to send 18 students to participate at the FIRST Robotics competition on Oahu.
Poetry event slated for March 10
“One Love, One Song: Poetry with Gavin Harrison” will be held March 10. The poetry, music and stories of awakening with Harrison will be followed by a community dessert potluck. An optional silent togetherness is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Property gates will close at 6:20 p.m.
This is a zero waste event; bring own mug, glass and plate.

Household hazardous waste collection set
A free household hazardous waste collection event will occur between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Waimea Solid Waste Transfer Station.
The event is for household generated and self-hauled waste only. No business or farm waste and no electronic waste will be accepted.
The Hawaii County Department of Environmental Management holds collection events so residents can conveniently dispose of acceptable household hazardous waste in a manner that protects both public health and the environment. Some types of acceptable waste are automotive fluids, used batteries, fluorescent lights and pesticides. For a more complete list of acceptable or unacceptable waste, visit hawaiizerowaste.org. The website includes other information on solid waste diversion and recycling.
The next scheduled collection will be June 9 in Kailua-Kona at the Kealakehe Transfer Station.

Story time features Dr. Seuss stories
With the help of the American Association of University Women, Kona Stories hosts a monthly story time for children ages 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The event features stories and crafts to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
Participates wishing to attend story time are asked to call and register at 324-0350. There will be a $5 participation fee to cover crafts and snack. Space is limited to 30 children. Those attending should check in 10 minutes early at the book store.
Story time will happen in the Keauhou Shopping Center courtyard on the KTA side.
