Amy Barbara Evans, 63, of Hilo, died Feb. 15 at home. Born March 16, 1948, in Chicago,, she was an artist and photographer.

A celebration of life will be held June 20.

She is survived by husband, Curtis Malia; sons, Solomon (Lyndis) Farmer, Ossian (Brittany) Farmer, Wren Evans; stepson, Christopher (Corryne) Malia; sister, Mary Evans; brothers, Geoffrey (Linda) Evans, Christopher Evans; 13 grandchildren.

Chucky Oliveira III

Chucky Dias Oliveira III, 22, of Pahoa, died Jan. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 7, 1989, in Hilo, he was a general laborer/fencer for Sunshine Fencing.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by companion, Geri Gohier, of Pahoa; son, Chucky Oliveira, of Pahoa; daughter, Carlyrose Oliveira, of Pahoa; parents, Chucky Oliveira Jr. and Connie Cordero, both of Pahoa; brother, Eisen Oliveira, of Pahoa; sister, Laticia (Rylan De Costa) Oliveira, of Pahoa; paternal grandparents, Chucky (Dolores) Oliveira Sr., of Pahoa; maternal grandparent, Caroline Cordero, of Hilo; great-grandfather, Edward Martinez, of Keaau; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Eisho Oshiro

Eisho “Masa” Oshiro, 84, of Mountain View, died Feb. 9 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired cook at the Naniloa Hotel and Cafe 100 and member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission, Hui Okinawa and Borden Kumiai.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at Puna Hongwanji Mission for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers and monetary gifts omitted.

He is survived by brother, Vernon (June) Oshiro, of Kailua, Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robyn Gentry

Robyn Keonaona Carreiro Gentry, 50, of Hilo, formerly of Waianae, Oahu, died Feb. 12 at her residence. Born in Kailua, Oahu, she was a homemaker, formerly employed at the Big Island Visitors Bureau, assistant manager at Wainaku Terrace and past president of the Puueo Kumiai.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by companion, Denny Gentry, of Hilo; mother, Henrietta Carreiro, of Wahiawa, Oahu; brothers, David (Pearl) Moeller, of Honolulu, Miles (Janice) Kamana, of Ewa Beach, Oahu; sister, Cynthia Carreiro, of Wahiawa, Oahu; hanai parents, Charles (Lei) Branco, of Volcano; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Mabel Horner

Mabel Horner, 94, of Hilo, died Feb. 15 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Center in Hilo. Born in Holualoa, she was a homemaker.

Private service were held.

She is survived by sons, Vernal (Ipo) Stevens, of Honolulu, Herbert (Lynne) Horner, of Oregon; daughters, Samantha (John) Sollo, of California, Marian (Sunday) Mercelino, of Waimea; brother, Julian (Rita) Gouveia, of Holualoa; sister, Marjorie Decker, of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gertrude Moniz

Gertrude Moniz, 84, of Hilo, died Feb. 13 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 17, 1927, in Olaa, she was a retired factory worker.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughter, Diane (Gregory) Kuamoo, of Hilo; sons, M. (Donna Noguchi) Moniz, Wesley (Debra) Moniz and Glenn (Tami Wheeler) Moniz, all of Hilo; brothers, Ernest (Maddie) Waltjen, of Keaau, Albert Waltjen, Howard Waltjen and Kenneth (Dale) Waltjen, all of Hilo; sisters, Mabel DeSilva, of Hilo, Daisy Waltjen, of Seattle; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
