Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II boys basketball champion Hawaii Prep received the No. 2 seed in the state tournament.
Ka Makani (9-3) will open the Hawaii High School Athletic Association tournament against Hanalani at 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaimuki High on Oahu. Hanalani (12-2) finished second in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu.
The winner between HPA and Hanalani will play the winner between No. 3 Kapaa (12-1, Kauai Interscholastic Federation) and McKinley (11-6, Oahu Interscholastic Association). The second-round game is set for 5 p.m. Friday.
BIIF runner-up Kohala (8-5) drew the tournament’s top seed, Kalaheo. Kalaheo went 15-2 to win the OIA crown. The two teams face off at 7 p.m. Thursday at Farrington.
The winner of Thursday’s game will face either No. 4 St. Francis (11-1, ILH) or Seabury Hall (6-0, Maui Interscholastic League) at 7 p.m. Friday.
In Division I, BIIF champion Kamehameha-Hawaii (13-1) earned the third seed and will open play Thursday at 5 p.m. against either Academy of the Pacific (8-4, ILH) or Pearl City (10-5, OIA). Kamehameha plays its second-round game at Radford High.
The BIIF’s other squad, Hilo (12-3), will play at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Leilehua (8-2, OIA). The Vikings play at McKinley High. The winner faces top seed Punahou (11-1, ILH) at 7 p.m. Thursday.
All of Saturday’s games will take place at the Neal Blaisdell Center. The Division II championship game will take place at 5 p.m., and the Division I title game will start at 7 p.m.
Both games will be aired by OC16.
