Moribe broke a scoreless tie in the 48th minute, and his goal in the 80th minute capped Kalani’s 4-0 first-round victory at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu.
In between, juniors Scott Manago and Leo Kling also scored against the BIIF runner-up Warriors (9-6-1).
The Falcons (13-1), the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s No. 3 seed, will face two-time defending champion Punahou (8-2) at 7 p.m. in today’s quarterfinals.
Waiakea also lost its first-round match last season at the state tournament before rebounding the next day to beat Moanalua to reach the consolation final.
The Warriors will try to follow a similar scenario at 1 p.m. today, when they face Na Menehune (9-4-2), the OIA’s No. 6 team. Kapolei beat Moanalua 2-0 on Wednesday.
In another first-round match, freshman Max Ching scored in the 56th minute as Iolani beat Aiea 1-0.
The Raiders (8-1-2), the Interscholastic League off Honolulu runners-up, advance to face BIIF champion and fourth-seeded seed Kealakehe (13-1-1) in a 3 p.m. quarterfinal today.
