Colson’s dismissal

Community will not be ignored

We, the community, are sad, angry, shocked that the best principal at Waimea Middle School has been fired.

We have asked for reasons from the Board of Hookakoo and have been ignored. Why are we being ignored? We will not go away until we are satisfied with answers and our principal is restored to his job. The community will be signwaving on Mamalahoa Highway fronting Church Row. We want the media to be involved so the whole state will see our protest. We want answers and the return of John Colson.

Hospital mahalo

KCH home of real aloha

I’d like to share my greatest gratitude to the incredible care professionals at the Kona Community Hospital who came to the aid of my wife, Janet, in January.

In 35 years of traveling to Kona and staying two weeks to six months at a time, we have never experienced the aloha, compassion and commitment to others like we did during her time in hospital.

KCH lacks some of the comforts of mainland hospitals, but has something that few hospitals can compare — incredible loving care professionals. Even with heavy work loads, each nurse and aid entered my wife’s room with a smile and shared true aloha in every touch.

Look across your breakfast table to your companion, your children, your extended ohana and ask, what would happen if they were sent to hospital? You can be assured they will be in the hands of people who have learned to replace the newest technology with true love, compassion and understanding.

When you hear of a money-raising campain for KCH, again look at your ohana and ask what would you do to be sure they have the health care they need? Then reach into your pocket and give anything you can. Give anything you can now because you can’t give enough when critical care is needed and care professionals don’t have the tools they need.

Thank you every person at KCH who touched my Janet and saved my ohana.
