Cattle Baron’s Ball set for March 3
The public is invited to put on its cowboy boots and dress in its western best for the Cattle Baron’s Ball-Hawaii. This year’s event will be from 5 to 10 p.m. March 3 at the Hale Hoaloha Pavilion on the grounds of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows.
Guests will be welcomed to a corral of midway- and Vegas-style games while enjoying pupu and beverages at specialty bars. A buffet dinner and luminaria ceremony kick off the evening program. A fire knife dance by Kamaka Mahoe is coupled with a Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Danny Akaka. The committee has lassoed up a line of live and silent auction items. The Silver Spur Band from Maui will perform.
Preceding the ball will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start golf tournament at the Waikoloa Kings Course, sponsored by Hilton Grand Vacations and dck pacific construction LLC. A buffet awards luncheon with prizes follows. Four-person teams, as well as team sponsors, are now being accepted.
All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society-Hawaii Island. Every dollar raised helps the organization to fulfill its mission of saving lives by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back. Last year, The American Cancer Society-Hawaii Island was able to serve 1,326 Hawaii Island patients with 2,847 services. The society also invested $3.4 billion in cutting-edge cancer research with the hope that one day there will be a cure for all cancers.
Individual open seating tickets start at $150. Reserved couples seating are $375 (two tickets), partial reserved tables are $750 (four tickets) and full reserved tables are $1,800 (10 tickets).
Golf prices are: Four-person team, $1,000; silver sponsor, $1,250; gold sponsor, $1,500; and platinum sponsors, $1,750. All sponsor levels include a four-man team and a tee sponsorship. Call 533-5000 for reservations.
