In coming months, LavaNet, which services 9,000 subscribers and more than 4,000 business accounts, will introduce an array of cutting-edge services. New types of dedicated highspeed access, a robust disaster recovery service, wireless Internet connectivity, a new Web community that will include live video and audio streaming of local events, and a LavaMall featuring more than 4,000 business clients — are among the services LavaNet plans to feature as part of its expansion.
Internet provider changes ownership
LavaNet, Hawaii’s largest locally-owned Internet service provider, announced a change of ownership and plans for expansion since being purchased by Pali Tuan W. Kaaihue, company vice-president who has been employed at LavaNet since 1995.
Kaaihue, the new president and chief executive officer of LavaNet, offered to purchase the ISP provider amidst negotiations with mainland-based corporations. “It was important to me that we keep our employees who built a reputation for excellent customer service and I wanted to play an even bigger role in keeping the lava flowing,” Kaaihue said. “My team and I look forward to ushering in this new era of growth and being a part of LavaNet’s evolution.”
