Tourism agency taking request for proposals

The Hawaii Tourism Authority is taking requests for proposals for projects qualifying under its 2010 Natural Resources and its Kukulu Ola — Living Hawaiian Culture programs.

The Natural Resources Program seeks projects and programs consistent with Chapter 201B of the Hawaii Revised Statutes which mandates that, of the Tourism Special Fund, “at least $1,000,000 shall be made available to support efforts to manage, improve and protect Hawaii’s natural environment and areas frequented by visitors.”

The Kukulu Ola — Living Hawaiian Culture Program seeks projects and programs that help to advance the goal of the Hawaiian Culture Strategic Initiative “to honor and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture and community,” as articulated in the strategic plan.

Information and application packets for both solicitations will be available through the agency’s Web site at hawaiitourismauthority.org and click on the link “RFPs” or by calling 973-2258 or 973-2252.
