Kaiser gives Hamakua center $50,000 grant
Marking 50 years of caring for the people of Hawaii, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is celebrating its anniversary with the entire community by awarding a total of $100,000 in grant money, holding statewide member, physician and employee events and conducting food drives.
The $50,000 grant was awarded to Hamakua Health Center Inc., a community-owned and governed 501(c)(3) corporation, to address health disparities in Hawaii by supporting its mission to provide accessible, quality health care and educational services that emphasize individual and community wellness regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. In addition, the 50 recipients of the Kaiser Permanente Hawaii employee and physician grant program were announced and each received a $1,000 grant. Big Island recipients were the American Cancer Society, From Kids for Kids, The Food Basket: Hawaii Island’s Food Bank and Hawaii Island Adult Care Inc.
