Miguel named employee of year

Elsie Miguel was named Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union’s employee of the year during the recent 69th annual membership meeting.

Also honored during the April 8 meeting were a number of long-time employees who have reached various milestones.

A network officer, Miguel was recognized for her tireless work through the end of last year to get data and phone networks operational for the new branch and administrative offices at Kaloko.

“She was applauded for working evenings and weekends without complaint, interacting with vendors and consultants without losing her smile,” according to a press release.

Also honored for their commitments were:

* Toni Claire Haanio, senior operations manager and a 25-year employee;

* Michael Asam, president and chief executive officer and a 20-year employee;

* Dean Uemura, executive vice president for support services and a 20-year employee;

* Rodney Watanabe, executive vice president for member services and a 20-year employee;

* Frank Thompson, director and 15-year employee;

* Kelly Gorloff, training specialist and 10-year employee;

* Andrea Hori, teller clerk II and five-year employee;

* Natalie Oblero, account clerk II and five-year employee.

HCFCU has been serving the Big Island for almost seven decades and it is a $269 million asset, not-for-profit organization that is fully owned by its 32,400 members.
