First Insurance Co. of Hawaii has lowered the homeowners insurance rates in its First Select Portfolio — a package policy that combines homeowners, personal auto and personal umbrella insurance — by an average of 8.5 percent. The new lower rates were effective Aug. 1 for new customers and will be effective Monday for renewals.
First Select Portfolio policyholders, who were already saving money by having combined their homeowners, auto and personal umbrella coverage into a single package policy, are now saving even more with the new lower rates.
Prince Resorts Hawaii promotes 3 executives
Prince Resorts Hawaii has announced the promotion of three long-time executives: Ted McAneeley, Gary Rockwood and Liana Mulleitner.
McAneeley will assume the newly created position of director of golf for the four Prince Resort Hawaii golf courses in the islands. Previously, he was the general manager of Residential Services and Golf Operations at Mauna Kea Resort. McAneeley will supervise all aspects of the golf operations at Makena on Maui, Mauna Kea and Hapuna on the Big Island and Hawaii Prince Golf Club on Oahu. He will also work closely with the sales and marketing teams to better promote the courses. He has been with Prince for more than 29 years.
Rockwood has been named president of Mauna Kea Resort Services, another newly created position. Prior to his promotion, Rockwood was the director of human resources at Mauna Kea Resort. He has been with Prince for 7 years. In his new role he will oversee resort services with the goal to improve the quality and type of services offered to resort guests.
Mulleitner has been promoted to director of corporate communications for Prince Resorts Hawaii and will supervise all aspects of the company’s public relations. She is located at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki where she also serves as marketing manager. She has been with Prince for 18 years.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. supports National Book Drive Month
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., one of Downtown Kailua-Kona’s restaurants, is sponsoring a Book Drive in conjunction with National Book Drive Month in September. During the month of September, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. will provide Free Bubba’s Dip Appetizer Cards for people who donate two or more new books for preschool through high-school aged kids.
The Bubba Gump Book Drive will benefit the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council Head Start Program and local school libraries. HCEOC Head Start is a local preschool through elementary school program to help spread literacy and education to children in need.
All books for pre-chool and elementary reading ages will be donated to HCEOC Head Start. Other books will be donated to local school libraries.
Kicking off the events in September, Forrest Gump himself will host a reading of his favorite book, “Curious George,” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Border’s. Book donations can be made in front of Border’s that day from 3 to 4 p.m. only. Forrest Gump and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. mascot Shrimp Louie will continue their tour of Kailua-Kona, by visiting various school classes on Monday, Sept. 8.
Drop off books at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant and Market in Kailua- Kona and all participating HCEOC Head Start locations from Monday through the end of the month.
Debi Bishop named general manager of Hilton Waikoloa Village
Debi Bishop has been named general manager of the 1,240-room Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Kohala Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island. A veteran hospitality executive, Bishop brings more than 27 years of experience in both operations and sales and marketing.
Most recently, Bishop served as general manager and managing director of Sawgrass Golf Resort and Spa — A Marriott Resort in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Bishop also served as vice president of sales for Interstate Hotels and Resorts and worked with MeriStar Hotels and Resorts in several capacities including vice president of operations and director of operations, Atlanta.
Bishop’s many accomplishments include being a recipient of a number of awards including the 1999 Human Resources/Bronze General Manager of the Year from MeriStar; 2005 Hotel of the Year, Finance Team of the Year and Catering Excellence Awards from Interstate; 2006 Most Engaged Associates and Catering Excellence Awards from Marriot International; and 2007 Taking the Lead General Managers Award from Interstate.
Bishop is a 2005 graduate from the Cornell General Managers Program. She was on the board of directors of the St. Johns County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the St. Johns County Tourism Development Committee during her tenure at Sawgrass Golf Resort and Spa.
