Kona Brewing Co. announces new vice president of finance

Kona Brewing Co. recently announced the addition of Jennifer Dunn to its staff as vice president of finance. In her position, Dunn is responsible for all financial and accounting aspects of operations, including leadership in accounting, acquisitions, auditing, billing, budgeting, business planning, cash management, financial analysis, forecasting, legal matters, preparing financial statements, real estate, scenario modeling, strategic planning, taxation and treasury management.

Dunn brings 18 years of experience in the finance industry. Most recently she has been serving as senior financial analyst for Ocean Kayak, a kayak manufacturer in Ferndale, Wash. Prior to that, she worked for many years at Kettle Foods in Salem, Ore., as director of finance and ultimately vice president of finance.


Kona Village’s Lani Opunui honored again

At this year’s 17th annual Keep It Hawaii recognition awards event held recently in Honolulu, Lani Opunui, Kona Village’s historian and cultural interpreter, was recognized with a “Keep it Hawaii Lehua Maka Noe” certificate of merit in the individual category for Hawaii Island.

Each year, the Hawaii Tourism Authority recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses that honor and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture.

The lehua maka noe, blossoming in the uplands, reflect the Hawaiian value of commitment to the growth and nurturing of projects, programs and initiatives that help to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture.

In presenting the award to Opunui, judges cited her jovial, caring attitude and keen sense of Hawaiian culture and history that she willingly shares with resort guests and the community. They also recognized Opunui as the consummate hospitality professional, having been at Kona Village for the past 28 years.


Kona Kulana Farms receives 2008 Best of Holualoa Award

Kona Kulana Farms has been selected for the 2008 Best of Holualoa Award in the Coffee & Tea category by the U.S. Local Business Association.

The association’s “Best of Local Business” award program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the association identifies companies they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The wward program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the association and data provided by third parties.
