Murasaki promoted to director of sales
ResortQuest Hawaii has promoted Wes Murasaki to property director of sales for Kauai and the Big Island after having served as group sales manager for the past four years.
“It is always a pleasure to support the advancement of careers and promote from within our organization,” said Kelvin Bloom, president ResortQuest Hawaii.
Previously the director of sales for the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort (now the ResortQuest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa), Murasaki also worked as a sales manager for Castle Resorts and Hotels where he was responsible for Hawaii-based wholesale, kamaaina, corporate and military/government markets for 21 properties in Hawaii and Micronesia. Murasaki is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a degree in psychology; he resides in Mililani Mauka.
Bank of Hawaii appoints two to new positions
Bank of Hawaii has appointed Kevin Baptist and Roberta F. Chu, both senior vice presidents, to the newly created positions of island manager for Maui and the Big Island, respectively. The new positions serve to recognize both Baptist and Chu as key leaders for their respective islands and will help facilitate continued integration of product offerings to clients.
Allan R. Landon, Bank of Hawaii chairman and CEO said, “Roberta and Kevin are highly respected and customer-service focused. They both have an excellent grasp of what it takes to help meet the financial service needs of our customers. We anticipate that their key roles will also continue to keep them deeply involved in community activities.”
In addition to her new duties, Chu will continue as Hawaii Island Commercial Banking Center manager. Her responsibilities include maintaining credit quality and performance of the commercial loan portfolio, managing client relationships and delivery of products and services.
Chu joined Bank of Hawaii in 1997 where she worked in the Hawaii Business Banking Center and the East Hawaii District. Prior to joining the bank, Chu served as vice president and manager of commercial banking at First Business Bank in Los Angeles, Calif.
Crafters sought of ‘Day at Hulihee’
Crafters interested in renting a booth for the “Day at Hulihee” on March 31 during Hulihee Palace’s fundraiser and crafts fair are invited to contact Anita at 329-9555.
The free event for the public features a stellar lineup of Hawaiian performing arts, plus fresh baked goods, a lei stand and an eclectic mix of donated merchandise at the onsite “Tutu’s Attic.” In addition, more than 30 local artisans will showcase their arts and crafts. Time is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the seaside grounds of this national landmark.
The annual “Day at Hulihee” benefits the continual restoration of Hulihee Palace. Built in 1838, it is at 75-5718 Alii Drive in the heart of Kailua-Kona.

The Waimea Hawaiian Homestead Farmers Market will celebrate its 15th birthday on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Founded in 1992 by a group of five Hawaiian Homestead farmers, the weekly market has thrived and grown to become the biggest and best
The market will commemorate its birthday with a birthday cake to be served at 10 a.m. There will also be a drawing for a gift basket filled with treasures from market vendors. Musical entertainment will add to the festivities.
