Mediation center adds to its staff

West Hawaii Mediation Center welcomes two staff, Bob Borns, executive director, and Janie Chandler Edmondson, case manager.

Borns, an attorney from Kailua-Kona, has experience as a mediator and educator as a former university professor. As executive director, he will oversee program development and implementation, grant writing and fundraising, training and supervision of the volunteer corps and community training opportunities.

Chandler has a bachelor of arts degree in human services and a law degree from St. Thomas University and recently assumed the role of case manager. She is responsible for all aspects of case management from general inquiry calls to initial contact with disputants, scheduling mediations and follow up.

West Hawaii Mediation Center announces its board of directors as well. Officers are Giovanna Gherardi, president; Sherman Warner, vice president/secretary; and Sue Grose, treasurer. The remaining board members are Joe Fichter, Chris Helmuth and Hannah Springer.

Founded in 1988, WHMC is a nonprofit organization that provides mediation, facilitation, conflict resolution education and training services to individuals, families and organizations in West Hawaii.
