Cintas signs on to captain Topaz

Capt. Dennis Cintas of Kailua-Kona has recently entered into a contractual agreement to operate and manage the charter fishing corporation known as “Tropical Sun Sportfishing Inc. Commencing Dec. 1, Cintas assumed captain and resident manager responsibilities of the corporation and its 40-foot Topaz gameboat Krista.

Cintas has been guiding fishing groups on Kona waters for approximately 18 years and he brings more than 40 years of worldwide professional fishing experience to Tropical Sun Sportfishing Inc.

Recently, the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament awarded Cintas and his crew the Richard Boone and Henry Chee Awards, a combination of awards never before achieved jointly by any participating charter boat captain and crew.

Charity trees voting goes through Dec. 20

Everyone is invited to tour the lobby and vote for their favorite Christmas trees as the Mauna Lani Resort celebrates its 13th annual Charity Trees event through Dec. 20. Many nonprofit and for-profit organizations decorated their Christmas trees for the exhibition, turning the Mauna Lani’s lobby into a winter wonderland.

For a $1 donation, visitors can vote for their favorite Christmas trees (donations collected will be distributed equally amongst all participating organizations, excluding first, second, third and fourth place winners).

The four Christmas trees receiving the most votes will receive a total of $6,500 in cash prizes, awarded as charitable donations by Mauna Lani Resort. Awards will be announced Dec. 20.

Aloha Linings and Coatings opens in Kona area

Aloha Linings and Coatings of Hawaii opened its new shop on Dec. 4. The business is located in Bay C-8 in building C of the new Honokohau Warehouses at 74-555 Honokohau St. above the Honokohau Chevron on Queen Kaahumanu Highway.

The business installs premium spray-in bed liners for pickups, vans, boats, horse and all types of utility trailers. It will be utilizing ply-urea and polyurethane formulations by Gatorhyde designed to withstand Hawaii’s climate and ultraviolet index.
