Graduate degree offered in West Hawaii
In partnership with the University of Hawaii Center, West Hawaii, the UH-Manoa College of Business’ Master of Human Resource Management graduate degree will be offered in West Hawaii. Designed for the working professional, the classes meet on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays and focus on accelerated executive format. The degree is Hawaii’s only business program accredited by the Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

Students enter in a cohort group and attend courses together for the length of the program.
The curriculum includes advance education in organizational behavior and dynamics, staffing, training, compensation, benefits, career development, health and safety, and labor relations. A course is also dedicated specifically to employment law. Participants will choose one advanced special topic elective course.
The courses will be presented using distance technology and held at the UH Center, West Hawaii’s Kealakekua location; students will attend from Manoa and the UH Centers in Maui, Kauai and West Hawaii.
Coqui frog eradication around nurseries planned
The Hawaii Economic Development Board, Hawaii Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service-Wildlife Services (APHIS/WS) program, and are teaming up to launch a program to help Hawaii Island nurseries control and eradicate coqui frog populations in and around nurseries. Many nurseries are surrounded by federal, state and county lands that are infested with frogs and despite the best efforts of some nurseries, the populations keep coming back from the untreated adjacent lands.
The program will send crews to spray federal, state and county lands surrounding nurseries that are identified as having frog populations. Hawaii Island Economic Development Board will provide community education support as well as citric acid and hydrated lime to APHIS/WS and participating nurseries.
Nursery locations will be evaluated and selected for the program, anyone who feels a nursery is a good candidate should contact Tim Ohashi at APHIS/WS at 933-6955.
