Area company wins industry accolade
Kona Sunset Pools and Spas was one of three companies presented with the 2010 Pinnacle Award granted by Luxury Pools magazine. The Kailua-Kona-based company was honored for construction, designs and builds for clients throughout Hawaii.
Companies were judged on the basis of functionality, structural engineering and hydraulics, landscape architecture and appearance. As part of his submission, Sherman Williams, principal of the firm, submitted photos of the construction process, including images of the site prior to construction and after steel and plumbing were installed. His documentation included a complete set of structural plans and plumbing schematics as well as multiple views of the finished project. His winning project is a multilevel pool that blends with the island’s natural beauty. Boulders define the spa’s spillover waterfall and a multicolored stone wall divides two pools, complementing the project’s design.
The two other winners were David Tisherman’s Visuals Inc., of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and HydroScapes LLC of Fountain Hills, Ariz.
