Thanks to the success of its first food drive, Liberty Dialysis now plans to make the drive an annual event.

Liberty Dialysis-Hawaii makes donation to Hawaii’s food banks

The Hawaii Foodbank presented Liberty Dialysis-Hawaii with a certificate of appreciation for its recent contribution of 2,150 pounds of canned items — over a ton of food. Representative Joey Manahan, D-29th District (in which the Hawaii Foodbank is located), also presented Liberty Dialysis-Hawaii with a joint resolution from the state Legislature recognizing the company’s exemplary corporate citizenship “for helping those individuals and families … who are most in need.”

“The Hawaii Foodbank is proud to honor Liberty Dialysis for its generous donation to food banks across the state,” said Linda Chu Takayama, chairwoman of the Hawaii Foodbank. “It is gratifying to see such a large amount of food being donated to fight hunger in our state.”

Collected from both staff and patients of its 14 Hawaii clinics, the food was donated to the food banks of the islands on which it was collected — Hawaii Foodbank (Oahu and Kauai), Maui Food Bank and The Food Basket (Hawaii Island).
