Christmas in July event is July 24
The 18th annual Joann Williams Christmas in July — Art, Gift and Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 24 at the ballroom of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in Kailua-Kona.
The event features vendors from all over Hawaii with exclusive items, including jams and jellies, ornaments, quilts, ceramics, dolls, Santas, handmade jewelry, wood items, car decals, cards, pareo, paintings, Hawaiian clothes, massage oils, eyelash and Hawaiian seed lei, photography, angels, bento babies, stained glass, fabrics, Tahitian pearl jewelry, baby and household items, baked goods and more.
There is no admission charge. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day. There also will be a silent auction.

Fruit growers meeting Monday
The next meeting of the West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii experiment station in Kainaliu across from Aloha Theater. Nonmembers are welcome to attend.
Ben Discoe will speak on “Biochar for Hawaii: Healthy Soil, Less Inputs?” Discoe is a sustainable agriculture consultant and tea/food farmer.
Members are asked to bring fruit for sharing.

Ka’u event needs vendors, organizations
Ka Ohana O Honuapo invites the public to the Hoolaulea at Honuapo: Malama Ka’u Park (also known as Whittington Beach Park) in Ka’u from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 5. Featured will be music, hula, cultural demonstrations, crafts, food, a silent auction, door prizes and the introduction of the final Honuapo General Resources Management Plan.
Crafts people, farmers, food and snack vendors, and people or organizations who have information to share or products to sell that promote sustainability are invited to join the hoolaulea.

Feng shui class coming to book store
Author Clear Englebert will present a three-hour class, “The Flow of Energy Within the Home,” at 1 p.m. Aug. 1 at Kona Stories in Kainaliu. It will be the beginning of a monthly series.
Englebert explains how the chi energy (ki in Japanese) of a person is influenced by the circumstances of the home.
The class covers clutter, its consequences and its elimination. Also covered is the placement of beds, desks, chairs and couches. Solutions to problem situations are varied, depending on the choice of the resident.
The cost is $25, with $5 off if one of Englebert’s books is purchased from Kona Stories at the event. He is the author of “Feng Shui for Hawaii” and the newly revised “Feng Shui Demystified,” as well as “Bedroom Feng Shui.” He has practiced and taught feng shui in Hawaii and California since 1995. A recognized feng shui expert, he has been featured on television programs and in print media. He teaches feng shui at various venues and offers consultations throughout Hawaii.
