Village stroll slated Sunday afternoon
Kokua Kailua Village Stroll takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday along Alii Drive, which becomes a pedestrian-only thoroughfare.
Restaurant certificate drawings will take place at 2:30, 3:30 and 5:45 p.m., and a free Hawaiian music concert honoring King William Lunalilo and remembering Iolani Luahine takes place at 4 p.m. on the lawn at Hulihee Palace.
The event is sponsored by the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, Destination Kona Coast, Kailua Village Merchants Association, Hulihee Palace and Pacific Radio Group. The program is designed to rally support for merchants and restaurants and to remind residents to shop, dine and buy local.
Gelman becomes IRS enrolled agent

Radio station adds new program
Pacific Radio Group announces the debut of the new “Bolohead and Babes” show on KAPA-FM (100.3 Mhz in Hilo and Ka’u and 99.1 Mhz in Waimea and Kailua-Kona). Veteran Big Island broadcaster Jaz Iglesias will be joined by Kaea Alapai in a program accenting Hawaiian music, community news and events that make the Big Island a special place.
Iglesias, a former drummer with the Hoku Award-winning band Ehukai, a retired martial arts fighter and the voice of many television commercials, will share on-air duties with Alapai, a lecturer at the University of Hawaii Center at West Hawaii and a kumu with Ke Kula o Ehunuikaimalino.
Surf store opening at Shops of Mauna Lani
Hawaiian Island Creations will open its first Big Island location this month at the Shops at Mauna Lani. The 1,800-square-foot store located near Tommy Bahama is scheduled to open its doors by mid January.
Founded in Kailua, Oahu, in 1971 by Stephen and Jimmy Tsukayama, the company has provided Hawaii’s residents and visitors with surfboards, skateboards, clothing and accessories for almost 40 years.
In addition to its branded products, the new location will feature a mix of clothing, accessories and hardgoods from Billabong, Hurley, Volcom, Quiksilver, Roxy, Vans, DaKine and more.
Tropical Fruit Growers meeting Monday
The West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will meets from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii experiment station in Kainaliu across from Aloha Theatre. Nonmembers are welcome to attend.
Brian Lievens and Ken Love will discuss sapotes, which covers many types of fruit in different botanic families.
Chapter elections also will be held.
