New show to showcase Hawaii
Kona-based executive producer Kirk Montgomery, of 4 Real Productions, announces that he, along with his longtime production partner from Maui, Justin Ward, have created a new Hawaii-based television series set to begin filming in March.
“This series will have something for every viewer. ‘Island Adventures’ will showcase Hawaii as a world-class adventure destination, as well as focus on the local flavor and the deep cultural history and diversity that lies within this wonderful state,” Montgomery said.
“Island Adventures” is set to air on Comcast/Fox in the Northern California Bay area and Nevada. Given the fact that the show will showcase the best Hawaii has to offer in a key tourist and demographic area for Hawaii, Montgomery said that “this is a great opportunity for local businesses here in Hawaii to reach their target audiences on the mainland in a fresh and exciting new way.”

Kona Village restaurant receives high score
The newest edition of Zagat Hawaii is reporting that Kona Village’s signature restaurant Hale Samoa received the highest total survey score of any dining establishment on the Big Island.
In addition to the high ranking of Hale Samoa, Kona Village is listed among the island’s top overall hotels and the resort’s luau, the longest running luau on the island, is listed among the island’s top attractions.
Pahala to host first Ka’u Coffee Festival
Ka’u has another claim to fame in recent years: the growing success of Ka’u coffee.
Coffees grown on the slopes of upland Ka’u have earned a place amongst the world’s finest coffees by earning high rankings in international competition and high scores at some of the most prestigious cupping tables in the coffee industry over the past few years.
The plantation heritage town of Pahala will celebrate Ka’u’s rising star with the first Ka’u Coffee Festival April 24 to 26. Events will include a Miss Ka’u Coffee Pageant, Ka’u Coffee Hoolaulea (admission is free) with coffee tasting, entertainment, food, education, arts and crafts and games for the keiki, Ka’u Coffee Recipe Contest, Ka’u Coffee Song Contest, farm tours and Ka’u Coffee Academy, a daylong series of workshops on coffee farming and processing.
The festival is a chance to try a variety of Ka’u estate coffees, meet the farmers and experience the sweeping vistas and rural charm of Ka’u.
