Senior guard Lia Galdeira and junior guard Hoku Liftee each scored 15 points in Waimea as defending Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I state champion Konawaena improved to 9-0 with a 61-18 win over Hawaii Prep Thursday in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation girls basketball game.

Sophomore guard Chancis Fernandez led Ka Makani (6-3) with four points.

In JV action, HPA beat Konawaena 38-19 behind 15 points from Tiana Reynolds and 11 from Ula Brostek.

Mikela Mercier led Konawaena with six points.

c Kohala 50, Kealakehe 28: Senior Jordelle Antonio scored a game-high 14 points for visiting Kohala, which improved to 4-5.

Senior guard Jovi Antonio and junior forward Sheana Cazimero added 10 apiece for the Cowgirls.

Anna de Sagun paced the Waveriders (2-7) with 12 points.

In JV action, Kohala beat Kealakehe 38-29.
